Oh god, I need to watch Small Island again.
Best wishes for all of you! May this be the best Christmas so far. (And if not, it will at least be the best Christmas this year.) Once again I will remind you of my little Christmas present to you. I don’t know when the page will be taken down. So please download the things you want now. Share and enjoy!
Merry, Merry Christmas to all of you!
“I know I’m not as gay or worldly as other men…”
Aww, so young. Don’t worry. You will be.
I dreamt that Mrs. Hudson had her own talk show, and she invited me to be her guest (for a reason I no longer remember). Since it’s Mrs. Hudson we’re talking about, she was of course incredibly cute. We got along very well, and after the show she invited me to her summer house, and I accepted (of course). That’s when things got weird(er). Basically, many of Benedict’s films and series sort of blended into my dream.
First of all, we found the body of Sir Jeffrey Patterson from A Study in Pink just outside her house. I freaked out, but Mrs. Hudson just said “Oh, dear. This happens occasionally. Just cover him up with some leaves will you, dear?” And I did. And all was good.
Then, during dinner, Miss Marple dropped by - as an old friend of Mrs. Hudson. Unfortunately without the company of the stunning Luke Fitzwilliam (from Miss Marple: Murder Is Easy).
After dinner, Mrs. Hudson announced that her only nephew was coming home from military service - which turned out to be Bernard Bligh (Small Island). I did not complain about that.
And just before I woke up, the beach comber from Third Star showed up, and turned out to be Mrs. Hudson’s paranoid ex-lover, which had just been through a serious breakdown. He was a maniac. We ended up hiding in her basement (which was stocked full of chocolate!). And then I woke up.
I love you, Mrs. Hudson.
30 Days of Cumberbatch| Day 06: Favourite On-Screen Kiss
I love how incredibly shy he is in this scene xD It makes him look even cuter, if possible. I like Bernard. I do.
Day 01: Favourite Role
Okay, this is nearly impossible for me. I think Cumberbatch is an outstanding actor who really puts his heart and effort into every role. They way he read books to “become” the character he’s going to play, all the research… I mean - it is amazing.
I’m tempted to pick Sherlock, but at the same time I don’t want to. I want to give a less known role the attention I believe it deserves. It’s an extremely hard call, I love every role, but I choose Bernard from “Small Island” (2009)
Some may say he’s too decent and dull - but I’m impressed of what Bernard’s willing to sacrifice for his wife Queenie. Benedict manage to bring a beautiful type of tenderness to his role, and force you to share great compassion for Bernard’s fate.
If this is a film you haven’t seen yet, I would strongly recommend it.
AND… You get to see Benedict Cumberbatch dressed up in both late 30s clothing, and a British WW2 military uniform.
